NTANTE O KAE? FATHERHOOD

Ntate o kae/ Fatherhood is a participatory documentary by a group of young people who decide to make a film about what it means to be a father. Bohlale, who is a father shows the others a photograph of him carrying his young child on his back. “I do everything a mother does to raise a child. It doesn’t make me feel less of a man” The others laugh and say that this photo must be fake, “no man would do this”. The group decides to go out and investigate how others feel about this. By speaking with men of different generations and a young couple in the village an understanding of what it means to be a father emerges in their film.
